Total Football Analysis Serie A Podcast #6

Posted by totalfootballanalysis in football, analysis, soccer, tactics, tactical, data, statistics, serie a

In the sixth episode of our Serie A podcast, we analyse what happened over the past week, when 62 goals were scored across 17 Serie A matches (1:00). We begin with Lazio vs. Fiorentina (3:30), a game that starred the league's top-scorer Ciro Immobile and the league’s assist leader Luis Alberto. It also featured a beautiful goal by evergreen Franck Ribéry! We look at the AC Milan win over Roma (20:20) and break down Roma’s defensive mistake that led to Ante Rebić scoring the winner for the rossoneri

We preview the big battle at the bottom of the table between Lecce and Sampdoria, two teams currently separated by only one point (25:30). We then look at what to expect in Atalanta-Napoli (29:50), the Turin derby between Juventus and Torino (38:30), and Roma-Udinese (41:15).

Finally, Steve (43:30), Daniele (48:40), and Chris (50:30) test the group’s Serie A knowledge with quizzes. Which team completes the most forward passes in the league? Which teams have the toughest and easiest schedule ahead of them? Upon moving to Barcelona, Miralem Pjanić will be the third footballer to have played with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo: who are the other two?

Total Football Analysis Serie A Podcast #5

In the fifth episode of our Serie A podcast, we analyse what happened over the weekend between Conte’s Inter and Ranieri’s Sampdoria (1:30) and between Torino and Parma (13:00). What did Sampdoria do wrong defensively on Inter’s fabulously-built second goal? Could Torino’s goalkeeper Sirigu do more on Kucka’s left-footed finisher? We preview what is expected to be the most sensational game of this Serie A season, Atalanta vs. Lazio (25:50), who feature the best and second-best attacks in the league, with 74 and 60 goals respectively. We also discuss what are the motivations for AC Milan and Roma (37:30) as they prepare to go face-off on Sunday. Finally, Steve tests our Serie A knowledge with a quiz (40:00): which teams are underperforming and which ones should have fewer points in the table? The answers are shocking!
